Site Updates & Changelog

Last updated: July 2025

What this page is: a reverse-chronological log of notable changes to CalcBot — new games added, broken games removed, features shipped, and editorial improvements. We keep this honest and specific. If we say we shipped something, we shipped it; if we say we removed something, we removed it. For the formal policies behind these changes, see our Editorial Policy, Game Testing Policy, and Game Licensing & Embed Policy.

Updates

July 2025 — 12 new self-made games shipped
Added 12 new original self-made games: Snake Classic, Maze Runner, Color Match, Bubble Pop, Word Scramble, Tile Flip, Reaction Test, Math Rush, Block Stacker, Click Speed, Typing Speed, and Memory Pairs. All 22 self-made games now render as React components — no iframe, no third-party dependency, no copyright risk. They form the primary indexable content for AdSense re-moderation.
July 2025 — Real-time chat widget
Added a real-time site-wide chat widget (socket.io). Guests get an auto-generated Guest-XXXXX nickname (5 random characters, saved in localStorage); registered users show their username or nickname. The widget is mounted in the root layout and is available on every page.
July 2025 — 12 high-risk IP games removed from sitemap
Removed the following high-risk trademark games from the sitemap and marked their pages noindex during AdSense re-moderation. The pages remain accessible by direct URL so existing links don't break, but they are no longer surfaced in search engines or in CalcBot's own category, "All Games", or homepage listings:
  • Moto X3M Winter
  • Cluster Rush
  • Snow Rider 3D
  • Eggy Car
  • Doom 1
  • Deepest Sword
  • Happy Wheels
  • Temple Run 2
  • Jetpack Joyride
  • Pac-Man
  • The Impossible Quiz
  • Crazy Cars
See our Game Licensing & Embed Policy Section 5 for the full IP risk classification.
July 2025 — Game pages redesigned
Every /play/* game page now includes: a Controls section, a Compatibility table, a Last Tested date, a Troubleshooting section, a "Report Broken Game" form, an Editor's Note, a FAQ, Content Notes, and a Game Details table. This is the editorial standard documented in our Editorial Policy Section 2.
July 2025 — New trust & legal pages
Created three new public policy pages: Editorial Policy, Game Testing Policy, and Game Licensing & Embed Policy. All three are linked from the footer and the HTML sitemap. This changelog page is also new.
July 2025 — Ads removed from game pages
Removed all AdSense ad units from every /play/* game page (P0-001 compliance). Ads remain disabled site-wide during AdSense re-moderation. Per our Licensing Policy Section 9, game pages will remain ad-free even after re-moderation completes — we monetize only our own editorial pages.
June 2025 — Articles section hidden
The /articles section was temporarily hidden during AdSense re-moderation. Routes return 404 (not just noindex — the pages do not render at all). The XML and HTML sitemaps exclude /articles. The educational-content feature flag (ENABLE_EDUCATIONAL_CONTENT) is set to 0. Articles will return after re-moderation completes.
June 2025 — "Thousands of players" claim removed
Removed the "thousands of players" claim from the leaderboards page. The claim was speculative and we could not substantiate it. The leaderboards page now shows actual rating counts and review counts without inflated user-base language.
June 2025 — HTML sitemap page
Added an HTML sitemap page at /sitemap listing all main sections, all games grouped by category, and all help & legal pages. This is distinct from the machine-readable /sitemap.xml file — both URLs coexist without conflict.
June 2025 — Breadcrumbs added
Added visible breadcrumbs (e.g., Home / Racing / Moto X3M) and a matching BreadcrumbList JSON-LD structured-data block to every game page and category page. The structured data helps search engines understand site hierarchy.
June 2025 — All Games page
Added an "All Games" page at /games with category filters and sort options (alphabetical, by rating, by popularity). Replaces the previous "browse all games" experience that was scattered across category pages.
May 2025 — Initial CalcBot launch
Initial CalcBot launch. 100+ browser games across 12 categories (racing, sports, platformer, puzzle, action, adventure, .io, idle, horror, strategy, casual, arcade), plus a scientific calculator and a small set of math articles. Embedded-game architecture (iframe from publisher CDNs), original editorial content on every game page, and a responsive mobile-first layout.
